Calm Thoughts in a Politically-Charged Climate

I’ll have some good book news coming up soon, but first, a breather. Yes, we all need a breather. I keep my author social media free of political stuff for good reason. That being said, my family and friend’s Facebook sees a lot. And as one of my longtime friends put it on Facebook this morning, we don’t connect there to see too much political spam. We have Facebook and Twitter friends...

Appearing at GalaxyCon, Nov 8-10. Free book drawing.

My last and certainly biggest appearance of the 2019 Author Tour 😀 is coming up November 8-10th. I’ll be at GalaxyCon, along with an impressive list of celebrities and just about every other indieauthor and artist from Minnesota that I know. I will also be offering a free, personalized book of choice to TWO lucky winners! Must submit entry forms at the convention.     Projected...

End of the Summer, Start of the Writing Season!

Did I just trouble anyone by declaring the end of Summer? I’m sorry. However, the boys are going back to school. I will miss them dearly, but it also means I have more time to write! (When not dodging honey-do lists.) During the Summer, we have way too much time being a family for me to keep up with my writing.   Book Projects This summer, I got a couple big accomplishments done. “The...

Two Audiobooks in Production through ACX

I have good news for fans that have asked, two of my books have started the Audiobook process and have publishers working on the projects.   (Sometimes I’m not sure if I should start a post with “Good News Everyone”, since that phrase usually pulls up scary memories of Futurama and the crazy stuff that usually followed that announcement.)   They are going to be exclusive...

Title in the works: “Boxer Earns His Wings”

Time for another update! This summer I’m slowing down some other projects to focus on a previous, unreleased title. Yes, that means I’ve been delaying work on the next Pilgrims with Blades. So, what is this new title? Years ago, I was asked to create a short story for a compendium with other authors. It seemed focused on Steampunk, so that’s what I wrote. I finished up and submitted...

Conversion to Ingram, (Still using Createspace)

Now that the family vacation is over, I have a big project to continue. This is basically a continuation of acting on my thoughts in an earlier blog: https://dhealoral.com/indie-author-navigating-choices-in-self-publishing/ Most of my successful book sales venues will not be affected. I sell a lot through Amazon and Kindle, so I’m keeping both of those. (My Createspace books maximize my Amazon...

Video Game Streams Update (Jan 2018)

Just a quick update on my near-future video game streams. I usually broadcast on weekends, starting anywhere between 9:30-10pm CST and running until around midnight. The schedule is a little loose due to family life. I also may do streams during the daytime on weekdays, or late nights during the week. That’s more of a spur of the moment thing due to work hours and house responsibilities.   YouTube:...

Dramatic Reading of “The Widow Brigade” on YouTube

I have a new treat for my book fans today. I have been trying to expand my YouTube to assist with my writing habit, and not just use it for streaming needs. I uploaded a dramatic reading of my highest rated fantasy novel, “The Widow Brigade”.   This was certainly a first-time attempt to do anything like this. I’m shy enough that I have a hard enough time doing readings in person…doing...

Post-QuestCon Updates (Books and Gamer Streams)

Now that all the preparation and work down at Quest-Con has passed, it’s time to update fans both old and new about current projects. We’re going to cover both book projects and video game streams. Books “The Widow Brigade” proved to be the more popular seller at Quest-Con, despite the recent release of “Pilgrims with Blades: Pressed into Service.” I can’t...

Game Streaming and Videos Soon, Stay Tuned!

I have a new project brewing outside of writing. I already spend a lot of free time playing video games. Folks who are no stranger to this site can find my “Swords Drawn, Guns Loaded” action series that I ran for Grievance. I’ve decided to go at it on my own now.   I watched a number of online streamers playing some popular games…even some unpopular games which proved to...
